Perhaps one of the most popular poem in the history of India, it is known to every student and we still remember it as adults. As a homage to the writer, there is a wall art at Prayagraj.

Subhadra Chauhan was born in Prayagraj on 16 Aug 1904 and later moved to Jabalpur after marriage. In 1921 with her husband she joined the Non Co-operation Movement. She was twice arrested in 1923 and 1942. After Independence she was a member of legislative assembly but next year she died of a car accident.
